BMW confirms the impending arrival of the 4 Series

As with Audi’s distinct branding approach to its A4 sedans and wagons, and its A5 coupes and convertibles, BMW is taking a similar path with its famed 3 Series.

The 3 Series sedans and wagons will stay within the current line-up.  The coupes and convertibles, however, will become part of BMW’s new 4 Series.

Unveiling in Detroit

As a proof of this branding direction, the Bavarian manufacturer unveiled its 4-Series Coupe Concept at Detroit’s International Auto Show.  The elegant two-door coupe is a sure sign of a new production model that will soon come to market.

Close on the heels of that coupe, the new BMW 4 Series family will receive a hardtop convertible, and word is that a four-door coupe is in the works.
