2015 Hyundai Sonata Eco

Hyundai presented its 2015 Sonata at the New York Auto Show with a selection of two engines: a naturally-aspirated 4 cylinder and a smaller but more powerful 4 cylinder with a turbocharger. Now, they have unveiled a third version tailored specifically for fuel economy, the Sonata Eco. It promises fuel consumption as low as 6.2 L/100 km.

This new version will be equipped with a turbocharged 1.6L engine producing 177 horsepower and 195 lb-ft. of torque. It will also be the first Hyundai to use their new seven-speed dual clutch transmission. This drivetrain allows the car to boast a fuel consumption of 8.4 L/100 km in the city, 6.2 L/100 km on the highway and 7.4L /100 km in mixed driving. For a midsize sedan, those are impressive numbers!

The car will be equipped with all the equipment of the Sonata SE, and will add a chromed grille, turn signal lights in the mirrors, automatic headlights, a 10-position driver's seat, 5-inch touchscreen, backup camera and the Blue Link system. The only available option is the $4,100 Technology package, which includes:

 - Blind-spot monitors
 - Push-button start
 - Leather seats
 - Leather steering wheel
 - Heated front seats
 - 8-inch touchscreen with satellite navigation
 - Dimension sound system

US pricing is out: $23,275, which is $2,125 more than the base model. For now, Hyundai Canada has not yet decided if they will import this version here.
