A quick look at 2014 Canadian vehicle sales is enough to tell us that it will be a good year for car manufacturers.

For example, total sales for May are higher than last year. 1.6 million vehicles were bought, compared to 1.44 million in 2013.

The segment that saw the most important rise is the pickup trucks, with a 13.1% increase. 824,743 trucks were sold in Canada in May, an excellent result compared to the 729,067 of last year. Car sales are also up by 9.4% (773,837 against 707,402 in 2013).

A closer study of the sales report shows some interesting information. For example, the manufacturer that saw the biggest rise in sales is... Mitsubishi! The small Japanese automaker sold 52% more vehicles in a given month this year than in 2013. Still, they only sold 7,269 cars, a far cry from Honda who sold 137,928 vehicles in the same period...

It would also seems that despite having recalled millions of vehicles, GM is still trusted by buyers. The American manufacturer sold 234,694 vehicles, a 12.1% rises compared to 2013. Their car sales are steadily improving (20.2%), while truck sales are less pronounced (8.1%)
