McLaren 650S Sprint: Not A Bad Compromise
While the launch of the McLaren 650S GT3 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed was impressive, it was obvious this model was only intended as a track car. For those of you who still want a more track-focused 650S, albeit street-legal this time, the manufacturer just unveiled the 650S Sprint.
The most obvious upgrades are to the aerodynamic bits, like the carbon-fibre front splitter, and the large fixed rear wing.
The cockpit is stripped of virtually everything that does not help driving, like door panels, carpet and armrests. An FIA-approved roll cage, racing seat, six-point harness and a fire extinguisher were added in the name of safety. And since it is a road car, A/C is still available.
The 650S Sprint is fitted with a racing suspension, 19 inch wheels with centre lugs and fade-resistant brakes.
You can option the car with additional luxuries, like a passenger seat and a lightweight polycarbonate windscreen.
The engine receives new programming, but power remains at a very healthy 650 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.
The 650S Sprint is already available for order at your local McLaren dealer, with a starting price of £198,000, which is about $364,000.
