A Convertible For Buick?

The American brand may not be known for its convertibles, but it would seem that GM sees a business case for one in its current lineup. And since today's Buicks are actually rebadged Opels, this new car could arrive faster than we think...

The pictures you see here are of the Opel Cascada, a stylish little convertible sold in Europe since 2012.

According to an anonymous source close to the dealership networks, some GM dealers were invited to a presentation where they were shown a Cascada equipped with a Buick badge. The manufacturer has also copyrighted the Cascada name in America, meaning that the car could be imported here without many changes.

Back in Europe, this Opel is sold with a selection of 4 cylinder engines, the most powerful of them pumping out 170 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque, and we could see this engine crossing the ocean.

Or, since this car is on the same platform that underpins the Verano, we could also see the convertible sporting the same 2.4L Ecotec engine that sits under this compact car's hood. There is a possibility that the new Buick Cascada could arrive as a 2016 model.
