Peugeot Quartz Unveiled In Paris

Since the Paris Auto Show is in Paris, it’s only logical that the French manufacturers concentrate their efforts on it. Peugeot, Renault and Citroën all compete against each other to present the most impressive concept at the show.

After presenting a stunning sports car last year, Peugeot will now show a prototype SUV that supposedly announces where the brand is headed, styling-wise.

Following in the footsteps (tire marks?) of the Exalt, the Quartz takes a few styling cues from last year’s concept, like the two-tone paintjob and narrow headlights. The truck also features red accents and 23-inch wheels.

Under the hood sits a tiny 1.6-litre engine producing 270 horsepower (!). Two electric motors, each producing 115 horsepower, are located at the front and aft of the vehicle. The Quartz is four-wheel drive, but only the rear differential receives power from the gasoline powerplant; the front is electric-only.

We saw the Peugeot Quartz for the first time on October 4th, in the French manufacturer’s booth at the Paris Auto Show.
