Hyundai’s Wacky Concepts At The IDEA Festival

Every year Hyundai hosts the IDEA Festival, a convention where their engineers can submit new and original ideas. For 2014, ten teams brought their creations to the manufacturer’s Technology Center in Namyang, Korea. Here are some of the best:

First of all is the Carry U, a small electric scooter that can fold up to transform into a suitcase.

Then comes the Length and Width, which can vary its length and width (as the name implies) to allow it to fit in small spaces.

The Golden Time Rescue is a single-seater fitted with a system that enables it to vary the diameter of its wheels. This helps the vehicle navigate various terrain, and its designers think that it could be used for rescue missions.

And finally, the Car-Meleon can change its structure to turn into a sedan, a truck or a RV.

We can safely guess that we won’t see any of these cars in Hyundai dealerships anytime soon, but maybe these ideas will be adapted to road cars sooner than we think…
