Ken Block’s Next Ride

Rally driver/owner of DC Shoes/stuntman Ken Block has driven a few sweet vehicles in the last few years. When we saw his first Gymkhana video, he was behind the wheel of a Subaru Impreza WRX STi sedan. He then graduated to a more recent STi. Landing a sponsorship contract with Ford gave him access to a mental rally-prepped Fiesta with more than 650 horsepower sent to its four wheels. For the latest Gymkhana, it seems that Mr. Block decided to go retro: his latest vehicle is a 1965 Ford Mustang.

It’s not just any old Ford, though: the Hoonicorn RTR has been thoroughly modified by Vaughn Gittin Jr. and his tuning shop RTR. The car may have left the Dearborn factory with an inline-six and an automatic transmission, but these are long gone: a 6.7 litre Roush Yates-built V8 now sits under the hood, backed by a six-speed sequential gearbox. This setup is enough to produce 845 horsepower and 720 pound-feet of torque. Don't worry, fans of four-wheel drifting, the Mustang is equipped with a Sadev all-wheel drive system.

We will be able to see this thing burn through a huge quantity of tires in Gymkhana 7, but if you can’t wait to see it, it is currently on display at SEMA.
