Here Is The Scion iM Concept

Scion recently announced they were working on a new vehicle that would inject some energy into the brand, and that they would unveil it at the Los Angeles Auto Show. They finally decided to jump the gun by launching the concept a few days early. So here is the Scion iM Concept, an Americanised Toyota Auris.

Wherever its roots may lie, this concept is a very stylish compact vehicle. Compared to the Auris, the iM sports a completely new bodykit, 19-inch gunmetal-grey wheels, new fog lights, lower suspension, a central exhaust and a rear wing sitting on top of the hatch. The concept is painted in a rather striking color, called Incrediblue.

For now, we don’t know what engine sits under the hood of the iM Concept, but since it shares most of its architecture with the Corolla, we dread that Toyota will use its anemic 1.8-litre, 132 horsepower mill. It would be a shame, since the iM looks like it could be a valid alternative to the Ford Focus ST and the eventual Mazdaspeed3.

The Scion iM Concept will be shown to the public at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19, and we should then learn more about where Scion intends to place this vehicle in today’s market.
