A few days ago Alfa Romeo announced that they had something new to show off at the Detroit Auto Show, and we were anticipating a convertible 4C; prototypes have been seen running around in the last few months, and such a car made a lot of sense for the manufacturer.

Alfa Romeo officially unveiled the 4C Spider this morning (after some pictures of the cars leaked on the Internet). The convertible features minor differences compared to the coupe: new side-air intakes, a different rear spoiler and new LEDs. Four different wheel sets are offered, varying between 17 and 19 inches in diameter. Buyers will have to select between a storable cloth top and a carbon fibre hardtop. The open-top experience will also benefit from an awesome soundtrack, courtesy of an optional Akrapovic exhaust. The 4C Spider can be painted in seven different colours, including a new one: Giallo (yellow).

Just like the coupe, the 4C Spider is powered by a 1.75 litre turbocharged inline-four located behind the seats and generating 237 horsepower. Non-assisted steering and a twin-clutch gearbox are also there to give the driver control over the car.

The stylish convertible will be available this summer.
