Mercedes-Maybach S600: "Affordable" luxury

The world of the super-wealthy is somewhat hard to understand for someone who doesn’t have an annual income greater than the GDP of some countries. For example, how do you justify a $35,000 basket in your Rolls-Royce that contains crystal glasses and silverware, other than by simply not looking at the price?

For some people then, the new Mercedes-Maybach S600 will be quite the bargain, since it starts at only $189,350 USD.

For that price, you get one of the most comfortable sedans on the planet, with a total length of 5.5 metres. That’s 20 centimetres longer than the Mercedes-Benz S-Class LWB, and this extra space is reserved for the owner’s legs (who will sit in the back, obviously).

The V8-powered version will not be sold here; it was probably judged too plebeian. The only available model will be the S600, featuring a 523 horsepower twin-turbo V12. The car also comes with MAGIC BODY CONTROL as standard.

Inside, we find enough equipment to satisfy even the most discerning buyer: a Burmester sound system, heated/cooled/massaging seats, night vision, LED headlights… The manufacturer also states that this is the quietest car in the world.

And if you want even more luxury, Mercedes-Maybach will happily install any accessory, leather or trim in your car, as long as you can pay for it…
