Imminent Departures For The Jeep Patriot And Compass

The merger between Chrysler and Fiat is still ongoing. The company has recently been renamed FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles), and new models using the Italian brand’s chassis are cropping up. Even Alfa Romeo has found its way back to North America with the 4C (and its convertible sibling, the 4C Spider, which has just been unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show).

FCA has an aggressive development strategy, and that means some changes to the various brands' lineups. The arrival of the 2015 Jeep Renegade marked the imminent death of the Compass and Patriot, two very similar vehicles built in Belvidere, Illinois alongside the Dodge Dart.

These compact SUVs, launched in 2006, never really gained traction in their segment and were seen as ‘’fake Jeeps’’ by the brand’s purists. According to FCA's 5-year plan, production will stop after the 2016 model year, while a new SUV should replace the duo. Expect it to be launched during the brand’s 75th anniversary celebration.
