China’s car market is currently expanding wildly; every manufacturer is trying to get a slice of this lucrative segment, notably by offering unique models there and by unveiling some vehicles at their auto shows.

If we are to believe the most recent rumours from Shanghai, Ford might be about to launch the next iteration of its Taurus shortly. If that’s true, its first appearance could very well be at the Shanghai auto show.

Ford is actually doing very well in China: last March, they recorded a 1% increase in their sales, which equates to 104,842 units. The best-selling models are the Mondeo (known here as the Fusion) and the Escort, a sub-compact designed exclusively for the Chinese market.

As a reminder, Ford promised that they would launch 15 new products in China before the end of 2015; the brand will open a new factory in the country, and they also launched their Lincoln sub-brand there last year.

We expect the Continental to be a huge success when it is launched there.
