Updates For The 2016 Scion FR-S

It might not look like it, but the Scion FR-S (and its twin the Subaru BRZ) has been on sale for the last 4 years. While sales were initially good, they steadily declined; today, the small coupe isn’t doing as well as it should. In an effort to remedy to this, Toyota added a few styling tweaks to the car for 2016.

The FR-S’ interior will receive silver accents on the steering wheel, the centre console and the doors. A new 7-inch screen for the infotainment system now comes standard, as does the backup camera. To set itself apart from past years, two new colours are available: Ablaze (metallic red) and Oceanic (metallic blue).

There are no changes to the drivetrain, which means the 2-litre boxer engine developed by Subaru is still pumping out 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, which are sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Said automatic comes with paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel and a rev-match function.

The 2016 Scion FR-S will arrive in dealerships in June.
