The Volkswagen Golf’s Future Is Coming Soon

It seems that Volkswagen is currently modifying the way it markets its vehicles in an effort to increase sales; in various interviews, we recently learned more about VW’s future.

The first product to see the changes will be the Golf.

Instead of redesigning their models every 7 years, the German manufacturer will follow its competitors and drop that interval down to 5 years (with a refresh after 3); the Golf will therefore be facelifted in 2018, and will benefit from a total makeover in 2020.

We already know that the next top-of-the-line Golf will unleash more than 400 horsepower (based on the R400 concept, which has been approved for production); this means that the other two sporty models, the R and the GTI, could receive more power. We expect that the GTI will pack around 300 ponies, while the R could climb up to 350.

The Golf will also receive various technological advancements, most notably inside. According to Wolfsburg’s engineers, the compact will receive cutting-edge technologies, such as a larger tactile screen and gesture recognition, like we saw on the Golf R Touch Concept in January.
