The American Government Considers Fining General Motors

We all remember last year’s recalls. General Motors had to admit that more than two million of its vehicles were built with a faulty ignition switch that could kill the engine while the car was moving.

In the end, General Motors recalled around 2.6 million vehicles, and 111 deaths are now linked to this problem.

So far however, the company has dodged the legal bullet. The U.S. government is now reportedly considering charging General Motors with criminal wrongdoing, which could cost the company billions.

In contrast, experts believe that an agreement will be reached between the company and the U.S. Department of Justice in order to avoid a costly trial. We should know more about this case by fall.
