Lotus 3-Eleven Being Unveiled At Goodwood?
The Eleven was always the smallest and most minimalistic car in the Lotus lineup (and that says a lot when your company makes the lightest sport cars in the business). They offered staggering performance from modest drivetrains: the first one, the original Eleven, was built in 1956. It won quite a few races, most notably with Sir Stirling Moss behind the wheel. The second (2-Eleven) was based on the Lotus Exige and used its supercharged 1.8-litre four-cylinder powerplant. Since it weighed only 666 kg, the 2-Eleven sprinted from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 241 km/h. Production ended in 2011.
It seems that the English manufacturer is ready to launch the next Eleven. According to some sources, the few teasers that Lotus dropped concerning a reveal at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed could mean that the 3-Eleven is on its way.
The car would probably be based on the Exige S, which means it would be powered by a 3.5-litre V6 fitted with a supercharger. With more than 400 horsepower on tap and a weight under 890 kilos, performance should be impressive.
