F1 Driver Jules Bianchi Dies At 25
On October 5th, 2014, Formula 1 driver Jules Bianchi hit a recovery vehicle after running off the track during the Japan Grand Prix.
His family has just released a short statement. Nine months after being admitted to the Centre Hospitalier de Nice, the 25 year-old Frenchman has succumbed to his injuries. He had been in a coma since his accident.
During his last Grand Prix, Bianchi was racing for Marussia; analysts had placed a lot of hope in him, and it seems that Ferrari had him in mind to replace Raikkonen.
In honour of the young man, the FIA announced that they would retire the number 17 (which was used by the driver last season); this means that no one racing in Formula 1 will be able to use it anymore.
