Just in case you needed yet more proof that the Koenigsegg One:1 is currently the fastest production vehicle to roam the Earth, the small Swedish manufacturer announced that they had smashed yet another track record. This time, it’s the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit that was witness to the car’s 1340 horsepower.

After beating the Nissan GT-R’s lap record at Suzuka, the Koenigsegg One:1 set its sights on the Belgian circuit. During a track-day event (meaning there were other cars on the track), the Koenigsegg managed to break the lap record for a production vehicle with its stock tires with a time of 2:33.26. In case you were wondering, that is 5 seconds faster than the last record.

And it wasn’t even the best the car could do; a few weeks later, the team came back to the circuit and improved their best time; for this lap, there were no other vehicles on the circuit, which means that the One:1 could be pushed to its limits.

Well, not quite; Koenigsegg was hit with a handicap: according to local laws, a car can’t be louder than 103 dB (as a comparison, a rock concert is 105 dB). Koenigsegg’s engineers quickly found a way to modify the vehicle’s exhaust, but this came with a performance loss.

Even with that, the One:1 proved to be even faster, with a lap time of 2:32.14.

Koenigsegg said that while the record is nice, it feels like unfinished business; they still want to improve on their time.
