For the previous generation of the Corvette, Chevrolet offered a Gran Sport variant; it was essentially a base-model Corvette with the 6.2-litre LS3 engine and suspension elements from the Z06.

At the Geneva Auto Show, the manufacturer just announced the latest version of this recipe: here is the 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Gran Sport.

This new Gran Sport features the magnetic suspension of the Z06 as well as high-performance tires. It also features larger brakes, though not as big as those on the Z06. The front discs are 14-inch units, and the rears have a diameter of 13.4. The Gran Sport also comes with the electronic-locking differential from the Z51 package.

The base-model 6.2-litre LT1 V8 from the Corvette sits under the hood of the Gran Sport; it has been fitted with valved exhausts for more sound and 460 horsepower. The transmission of choice is a seven-speed manual, but customers can opt for an eight-speed automatic if they want.

Despite the fact that this car has 190 horsepower less than the Z06, it will be more than enough for track duty.
