A New Toyota Prius Will Arrive in New York

The next generation of the Toyota Prius is about to hit dealerships. So far, only the regular Prius has been shown, but things could change shortly: at the New York Auto Show, Toyota will bring a new version of its most popular hybrid vehicle.

The only information we have so far is the above image: in it, we can see that the rear end will be very different. Instead of the vertical taillights of the 2016 Prius, this upcoming car will have two C-shaped lights joined by a center LED strip.

So what could this car be? The most obvious choice would be either the subcompact Prius c or the Prius v (which Toyota calls a crossover), since both these models are still riding on the last-generation’s platform. We also expect the plug-in variant to be launched, but it would be surprising if this version would feature a different rear end.

There is a fourth option: the image makes us think that this car could actually be a sedan. Would a four-door Prius sell well?

We will know more on March 23.
