A short while after showcasing the GT12, a track-ready Vantage that was supposed to be called GT3 before Porsche heard about it, Aston Martin is hard at work on another new version of its coupe. According to Autocar, a sharper V8 Vantage is coming.

The image you can see above was included in an email sent to potential customers. We don’t know what this GT8 will receive, but we can bet on a massive rear wing, aerodynamic side skirts and a large front clip.

Performance-wise, this new Aston Martin should get to 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.5 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the Vantage S, currently the fastest V8-powered Vantage.

The GT8 will have its work cut out for it, because its price (around 170,000 pounds, or CAD$315,000) and its on-track performance will place it as a direct rival to Porsche’s 911 GT3 RS.

Only 150 units of the Aston Martin GT8 will be produced. Since a few of Aston Martin’s most loyal customers and collectors have been offered one already, we’re pretty sure most of them are already sold.
