Pirelli P ZERO: We’re Testing Them This Week

Pirelli P ZERO

The Car Guide is in Portugal to test the new high-performance Pirelli P Zero tires. It’s all happening at the Estoril Circuit located near Lisbon where Formula 1 races took place from 1984 to 1996.

Built in 1972, the circuit is 4.35 kilometres long and includes 13 corners, two of which are hairpin turns. There are several elevations and a 985-metre straight. Ayrton Senna earned his first victory here in 1985. This is also where Nigel Mansell was given a black flag mid-race in 1989 after hitting Senna.

Remember the time when Jacques Villeneuve made the history books by passing Michael Schumacher in 1996? The Estoril race was dropped from the F1 calendar in 1997. However, the circuit still hosts high-level races for motorcycles, monoplace cars, sports cars and touring cars. The FIA GT and DTM championships are sometimes held here.

As for us, we’ll have the pleasure trying out the new Pirelli P Zero tires on the track and on the road. Our findings will make their way onto The Car Guide website next week.
