On the market without many changes since 2013, it was time for the current-generation Nissan Pathfinder to receive some improvements if it wanted to stay competitive against newer rivals. Nissan just unveiled such improvements for the 2017 Pathfinder.

First of all, the front and rear section were modernized using Nissan’s proprietary V-Motion styling cues. The fog lights are also different. The vehicle's tailgate can be opened by sweeping a foot under the rear bumper. Eighteen-inch wheels come standard, while 20-inch units complete the Platinum version’s look.

Under the hood sits the same 3.5-litre V6. However, it receives a few upgrades like direct injection, new cylinder lining and electronic variable intake timing. Overall, 50% of all parts are new. This enables it to develop 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque. Fuel consumption should be down, and towing capacity climbs from 5000 to 6000 lbs. Nissan’s latest Xtronic CVT gearbox is still on board.

The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder should arrive in dealerships this fall.
