In order to be a player in the pickup segment, customization is a must. In other words, a buyer of said truck must be able to “build” a pickup in his or her image.

Nissan’s working hard at convincing picky and loyal truck buyers to look their way. The addition of a new single cab model for the Titan and Titan XD should at least attract fleet/work truck buyers. An eight-foot box will be standard with this setup.

All Titans can be equipped with the 5.6L Endurance V8 gasoline engine. It is rated for 390 horsepower and 394 lb.-ft. of torque. Those that step up to the XD also have access to the Cummins 5.0L turbo-diesel V8 that is good for 310 horsepower and 555 lb.-ft. of torque.

In time, three cab configurations, along with bed lengths and engines (a V6 will arrive at a later date) will be made available to discerning truck buyers. With that, the choice between 4x2 or 4x4 and numerous trims will ensure that a high level of customization is possible.

The single cab finds its way alongside the Titan XD and Titan crew cab configurations, and once the rollout of all versions is done, should be enough to cover up to 85% of the light-truck market, according to Nissan.
