Improvements for the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander

The Japanese brand’s compact SUV was extensively revised in 2016, after being completely redesigned in 2014, and gains a few improvements and features for the 2017 model year.

According to the manufacturer, the line-topping Outlander SE and GT are the most popular trim levels in Canada, which both offer seven-passenger seating and a 224-horsepower, 3.0-litre V6 engine. For 2017, there will be a new Outlander ES AWC Touring version, powered by the 166-hp, 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, that will feature a third-row seat.

A bunch of minor items have been added to the Outlander, such as a 12-volt power outlet in the cargo area, a shark-fin roof antenna, footwell lighting and LED console lighting. A low washer fluid level warning light is now also included, and dual-zone climate control is now standard on all trim levels.

Uplevel variants of the 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander now benefit from blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The Outlander GT S-AWC adds a 360-degree camera system and pedestrian detection to its suite of advanced safety driving aids, which includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and forward collision mitigation.

The 2017 Mitsubishi Outlander starts at $26,698 before freight and delivery charges, while the range-topping GT S-AWC is listed at $37,998. We’re still waiting for the plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander in Canada, which is currently selling very well in Europe.
