At Last! The 2018 Dodge Durango gets an SRT Version

Instead of launching new models on new platforms, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles keeps on introducing new versions of its existing vehicles. Only a couple of weeks ago, we talked about the GT version of the Dodge Challenger, and now, here’s the SRT version of the seven-passenger Durango SUV.

The Dodge Durango, who year after year holds a place in the hearts of big American SUV fans, will now be available in SRT trim, which means Street and Racing Technology.

Like its big-engined sisters, its engine bay has been stuffed with a 6.4-litre V8, good for 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. All that muscle will allow the Durango and its seven occupants to blast from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Okay, maybe a little more if the vehicle is loaded with seven adults, but still, that’s very impressive performance.

In the seven-passenger SUV segment, the Durango SRT should definitely be one of the fastest, like the manufacturer claims in the video you see below. However, the Tesla Model X P100D and the Mercedes-AMG GLS 65 may be tough to beat. On the other hand, the Durango SRT should easily take the bang-for-the-buck title, although Canadian pricing hasn’t yet been announced.

From a styling standpoint, we notice a new front fascia in addition to several revised elements, such as the vented hood inspired by the other SRT models.
