We were impatiently waiting to know how much horsepower the new Civic Type R would produce, and now we finally know.

At the Geneva Auto Show, Honda just revealed the specifications of its new-generation, 2018 Honda Civic Type R, a car we’ve been waiting for in production trim for quite a while now.

So, what’s to be found under its hood? Nothing less than a turbocharged, 2.0-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine that develops 316 horsepower (320 PS) and 295 pound-feet of torque.

We also know that only one trim level will be offered, called the Touring, and that it will feature a drive mode system.

The car will only be available with a six-speed manual transmission, putting to rest false rumours about Honda wanting to equip the Type R with a CVT automatic gearbox.

What’s certain is that we can’t wait to drive the 2018 Honda Civic Type R.
