Infiniti has finally taken the wraps off of its new vehicle called the Q Inspiration Concept. It’s a midsize luxury sedan which the brand says is designed to appeal to a younger audience than a traditional luxury sedan would.

The sleek exterior is definitely Panamera-esque with a four-door coupe silhouette and a low profile. We had a glimpse of the vehicle in teaser images, but seeing it in person, it carries a much greater presence.

It is the first manifestation of Infiniti’s new form language for an era of advanced powertrains and specifically the new variable compression turbo (VC-T) engine. The brand is claiming turbocharged gasoline power with the torque and efficiency of a hybrid or diesel engine by way of continually adjusting the compression ratio.

“The premium sedan segment has become rather conservative. The Infiniti Q Inspiration previews something that could appeal to a younger audience, who seek modern design and new technologies to inspire and empower them,” said Christian Meunier, Infiniti Global Division Vice President.

The concept utilizes Nissan/Infiniti’s ProPILOT functionality which is essentially semi-autonomous piloting in case the driver wants to focus its attention elsewhere.

The cabin follows a minimalist approach, with a relatively clean interior design. The smaller four-cylinder VC-Turbo has liberated the designers from the constraints of prior powertrain architectures to deliver a spacious interior. Modern technology and craftsmanship merge inside the cabin, presented in a way that the brand says won’t distract the driver.

Hopefully much of this look and tech will filter down into the lineup because we like what we see here.
