Updated 2020 Audi S7 Follows the S6 Lead

We told you last week about the refreshed and more powerful 2020 Audi S6. Well, it’s now the four-door coupe’s turn to get a series of updates for the upcoming model year.

Much to the delight of performance enthusiasts, the 2020 Audi S7 boasts a new twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre TFSI V6 engine that produces 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 109 horsepower and 74 pound-feet over the base A7. It is able to sprint from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds.

A fairly significant addition is the electric compressor powered by a 48-volt mild hybrid system. Optimizing low-end torque, this compressor has a response time under 250 milliseconds and a maximum speed of 70,000 rpm. It works together with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission to eliminate turbo lag and make the car more explosive in pretty much all situations.

Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive with active torque distribution comes standard, as does an S-tuned adaptive air suspension and upgraded brakes.

For ultimate handling and thrills, you just have to combine the available sport suspension with the S sport package, which includes a quattro sport differential and four-wheel steering. A sport exhaust system and red brake calipers are also part of the mix.

With regard to styling, the refreshed 2020 Audi S7 stands out with available Matrix LED headlights featuring laser technology, S-specific bumpers, a platinum-trimmed Singleframe grille and quad tailpipes.

The front splitter makes the car look wider, while a diffuser inlay in matte black chrome gives flair to the rear. Wheel choices include 20- and 21-inch designs wrapped in summer performance tires.

To appreciate all of this performance and visual flair, designers came up with magnificent Valcona leather S sport seats with diamond stitching. The interior layout is centered around the driver, with the 12.3-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit behind the steering wheel and a dual-screen MMI touch response infotainment system (10.1-inch upper, 8.6-inch lower) replacing the rotary dial and conventional buttons on the centre console.

Other highlights include four-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera system and a Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system that will make you feel like you’re attending a concert while driving.

Canadian pricing for the 2020 Audi S7 should be announced this fall.
