New Porsche Taycan 4S Model is Slightly More Affordable

As promised, Porsche is expanding the all-new Taycan range with the addition of a 4S model that’s slightly more affordable than the Turbo and Turbo S we’ve already tested.

While these two generate up to 751 horsepower and offer a range of 381-450 kilometres, the Porsche Taycan 4S is a bit tamer.

With the 79.2-kWh Performance battery, the Taycan 4S produces up to 522 horsepower; equipped with the 93.4-kWh Performance battery Plus shared with the Turbo and Turbo S, it delivers up to 562 horsepower. The former allows a range of 407 kilometres and the latter will give you 463 kilometres (based on the WLTP protocol).

In both variants, the Taycan 4S accelerates from a standing start to 100 km/h in four seconds and reaches a top speed of 250 km/h.

As the name indicates, all-wheel drive is achieved by combining a pair of electric motors—one for each axle. A two-speed transmission on the rear axle is also part of the mix. This is the same configuration found on the more powerful Taycan models.

Other technical highlights include an adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology and electronic damper control, plus 360-mm front and 358-mm rear discs with six- and four-piston callipers, respectively.

The Taycan 4S is just as aerodynamic as the other models (0.22 drag coefficient), but it visually stands out with 19-inch Taycan S Aero wheels, red-painted brake calipers, a front apron with new geometry, as well as black side sills and rear diffuser. LED headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS Plus) are fitted as standard.

As for the cockpit, you’ll find a partial leather interior with eight-way power adjustable comfort seats. A central 10.9-inch infotainment display and an optional passenger display are combined to form an integrated glass band in a black-panel look.

The 2020 Porsche Taycan 4S is available to order now and deliveries will begin next summer. Canadian pricing starts at $119,400.

We’re now waiting for the fourth and final piece of the Taycan family, which will be cheaper and less powerful. Keep following us for all the details.
