2020 Nissan Sentra Debuts in Canada

Compact cars are still popular across the country and one of them, the completely redesigned 2020 Nissan Sentra, is making its Canadian debut today at the 2020 Montreal Auto Show.

Rightfully ignored by many potential customers, the old Sentra looked pretty boring. In order to stand out from better-selling competitors such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda3 and Volkswagen Golf, Nissan designers had to do something about it.

Redesigned and More Refined

Sporting a fresh new exterior similar to the midsize Altima, the 2020 Nissan Sentra is motivated by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque while achieving a combined 7.1 L/100 km.

Two transmissions are available: a six-speed manual and a continuously variable automatic. The latter will be the choice of most customers, of course. It remains to be seen whether Nissan engineers fixed the mechanical issues that plagued a number of Sentra and Versa cars in the past.
