Ford Bronco Overland Concept Takes Adventure to New Places

Despite COVID-19, the largest North American gathering of classic Ford Broncos is taking place from Wednesday through Saturday in Townsend, Tennessee.  And the automaker seized the opportunity to unveil a new concept incorporating a host of accessories for overlanding enthusiasts.

The aptly named Bronco Overland shows “how the all-new Bronco two-door, Bronco four-door and Bronco Sport models are designed to help redefine the next generation of off-road vehicles,” Ford says.

Based on a four-door Bronco in Badlands trim (the extreme off-roader in the lineup), this concept is painted in a custom colour scheme called “Area 51” and houses a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine mated to seven-speed manual transmission. It also features the High-Performance Off-road Stability Suspension (H.O.S.S.) system with position-sensitive Bilstein dampers. Meanwhile, the 17-inch Fifteen52 Turbomatic heavy-duty wheels in asphalt black are wrapped by 35-inch BFGoodrich LT315/70R-17 mud-terrain tires.

From there, things only get more interesting. The Bronco Overland has a Ford Performance by WARN winch mounted to a Ford Performance modular steel bumper. A heavy-duty, two-person tent from Yakima and a factory roof rack are mounted to the roof rails, along with a 1x40 RIGID  light bar and six additional RIGID POD lights in a 360-degree configuration for improved lighting all around. A tall CB antenna is mounted to the rear bumper.

What about the interior? The trunk combines an ARB refrigerator, cooking kit and stove mounted to a cargo management system. The refrigerator even has a slide-out tray for easier access. A tailgate table and chairs complete the package.
