Lincoln Nautilus Gets Significant Update for 2021
The Lincoln Nautilus, which replaced the MKX two years ago, is getting a significant mid-cycle update, although it may not seem like it when you look at the vehicle.
Upon closer inspection, the lower front bumper has been revised and no longer features chrome trim around the fog lights. Three new exterior colours are available—Asher Gray, also available in a sleek Monochromatic Package, Green Gem and signature Lincoln Flight Blue. It’s not what we’d call big news, however.

Likewise, powertrain options are carried over including a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, and a twin-turbo 2.7-litre V6 rated at 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Both engines include standard Auto Start-Stop capability and an eight-speed transmission.
Enhancements to the front suspension reportedly make the drive more pleasant. As for safety, the new Nautilus comes standard with Lincoln Co-Pilot360 and available Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Plus which features a 360-degree camera with a front sensing system, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go and lane-centering technology, Distance Alert/Distance Indication and Enhanced Active Park Assist and Evasive Steering Assist.
Big Changes Inside
The biggest changes to the 2021 Lincoln Nautilus are found inside. The dashboard is largely redesigned and more modern-looking, ergonomics are improved and so is fit and finish. There are two new standard interior colours: Sandstone showcases neutral tones with higher colour contrasts varying from light to dark, while Black Ebony returns with new Roast accents on the seats, doors and console armrests, as well as the mid-horizontal instrument panel.
The Nautilus receives the new SYNC 4 infotainment system on an all-new 13.2-inch centre screen—the largest available across the Lincoln brand—while adding the brand’s signature piano key shifter.
SYNC 4 includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Combining conversational voice recognition with internet search, drivers can also seek the latest information using their natural voice. For example, just say “take me to the nearest Thai restaurant in Ottawa” and the system will give you directions to the top-rated location according to YELP.
OTA Updates and New Website
Furthermore, SYNC 4 enables secure over-the-air (OTA) updates and offers video tutorials for select operations and functions so you don’t have to search through the owner’s manual.
Phone As A Key technology comes new to the Lincoln Nautilus and is activated through the Lincoln Way app, allowing you to start and drive the vehicle using a compatible smartphone—no traditional key necessary. More and more car companies are offering this feature, which could become the new norm in a few years.

The 2021 Lincoln Nautilus will be sold in a single trim level starting at $56,000 when it arrives in dealerships early next year.
