Land Rover Defender Trophy Edition Aimed at Select Adventurers

Published on July 30, 2021 in News by Guillaume Rivard

Remember the limited run of 25 Defender Works V8 Trophy vehicles built by Land Rover Classic using the original Defender? Well, the automaker has decided to something similar with the new generation.

We must warn you, though: the 220 units that are planned for North America will be sold exclusively in the U.S. at a starting price of $90,000.

Based on the five-door Defender 110 in P400 X-Dynamic SE trim, the Trophy Edition features a special yellow wrap inspired by the Defender Works V8 Trophy along with an Extended Black Exterior Pack.

The vehicle is designed to tackle some of the most demanding endurance challenges, helped by an air suspension, front undershield, Cold Climate Pack, Off-road Pack and Advanced Off-road Capability Pack. It also adds a winch kit, roof rack, deployable ladder, ClearSight rear-view mirror, tow hitch receiver and deep-sided rubber floor mats.

Each customer will get an opportunity for a two-person entry to a one-day off-road adventure in the Land Rover U.S. Trophy Competition taking place at the legendary Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina this October. Expert one-on-one coaching will be provided as part of the adventure. The overall winning team will go on to compete at The Land Rover Trophy Competition at Eastnor Castle in the U.K., the spiritual home of Land Rover testing and development. How cool is that?

Meanwhile in Canada…

As mentioned up top, the Trophy Edition is not available to Canadian customers. However, there are other new additions for 2022, including a Defender 110 XS Edition sporting body-coloured lower cladding and wheel arches plus 20-inch, five-split‑spoke Gloss Dark Grey wheels. Pricing starts at $85,800.

For those who love power, a V8 engine can now be specified, as well. Producing 518 horsepower and 461 pound-feet of torque, it can take you from 0-100 km/h in as little as 5.2 seconds. Understandably, you’ll have to pay a lot more money—$122,800 or $125,600 depending on whether you choose a Defender 90 or Defender 110.
