42,000 Ram Pickups Recalled in Canada to Replace Airbags

Stellantis has announced a recall on more than 212,000 Ram pickups in the U.S. and over 42,000 in Canada to replace their side-curtain airbags.
A U.S. investigation has discovered certain vehicles may be equipped with airbag inflators that were contaminated by moisture during the supplier’s manufacturing process, once again bringing the saga of Takata airbags under the spotlight.

These inflators may rupture, even without airbag deployment, possibly sending debris into the cabin. The automaker is aware of a single rupture involving one of its vehicles, though fortunately no injuries have been reported.

Affected models include the Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 from the 2015-2020 model years as well as the previous-generation Ram 1500 (2018 and older).

Owners will soon be advised when they may schedule service to have the side-curtain airbags replaced at no cost.

New Additions for 2022

Last month, Ram announced three new models for 2022 going on sale later in the summer. The Ram 1500 Sport G/T, Rebel G/T and Laramie G/T all feature unique technology and performance straight from the factory so you’re less likely to need a visit to the dealership for extras.

Also available from this summer, the new 2022 Ram 1500 Limited 10th Anniversary Edition celebrates a decade of success for the top trim in the Ram 1500 lineup. It stands out with an available exclusive Blue Shade exterior colour, multifunction tailgate, Mopar centre-mounted bed step and adjustable cargo tie down hooks, plus even more real wood, metal and leather surfaces inside.
