2022 Acura RDX Gets Extensive Mid-cycle Update, Exclusive Edition
The Acura RDX is one of the most popular compact luxury SUVs on the market and it will be even more attractive with a number of changes and updates for the 2022 model year.
The highlight, of course, is the new PMC Edition, which combines the sporty style of the RDX A-Spec with the premium features of the Platinum Elite Package. Act fast, though, because a mere 15 units will be available to Canadian customers.

Each one will be carefully assembled and painted by hand in striking Long Beach Blue Pearl with an interior finished in Orchid Milano leather—two colours shared with the new 600-horsepower NSX Type S supercar. Berlina Black 20-inch wheels and other high-gloss black accents are included.
MDX Looks
Drawing inspiration from the fourth-generation MDX, the 2022 Acura RDX features a redesigned front fascia, larger air intake and Diamond Pentagon grille with a thinner chrome surround. The LED fog lights are highlighted by a new chrome trim. In the rear, there’s a reshaped bumper with cutouts for the new rectangular dual exhaust tips.
All RDX models come with either 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels, those on the RDX A-Spec with Platinum Elite Package featuring an all-new 15-spoke design. A new Liquid Carbon Metallic body paint is available, too.
Quieter and More Sophisticated
The interior of the 2022 Acura RDX is the quietest ever thanks to improved noise insulation in many areas and enhanced Adaptive Sound Control technology. Connectivity features now included as standard are wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa Built-In and a USB-C charging port.
Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging and IconicDrive LED ambient lighting are part of the Technology Package, the latter allowing drivers to select one of 27 distinct ambient lighting colour combinations, 24 of which are inspired by famous locations and racetracks.
Driving enthusiasts will appreciate the flat-bottom sport steering wheel now included in the RDX A-Spec, as well as improved brake pedal feel courtesy of a retuned Electronic Brake Booster. Acura engineers have updated the Integrated Dynamics System to deliver a more distinct feel between the four driving modes (Normal, Confort, Sport, Snow). Also, the revised Adaptive Damper System is said to offer more response in Sport mode and a more comfortable ride in Comfort mode.
Safer and Smarter
When it comes to safety, expanded AcuraWatch now includes standard next-generation safety technology like enhanced Blind Spot Information with Acura-first Lane Change Assist, Rear Seatbelt Reminder plus Front and Rear Low-Speed Braking Control.
A new Traffic Sign Recognition system uses a camera rather than GPS location to display more accurate speed limit information on the seven-inch digital instrument panel or the available head-up display. What’s more, the Collision Mitigation Braking System with Forward Collision Warning has been updated with Pedestrian Automatic Emergency Braking, which operates at speeds above 10 km/h.
A quick final note to tell you that the 272-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine is unchanged, teaming up with a 10-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system as standard.
The 2022 RDX will begin arriving at Acura dealers in Canada this fall. Pricing ranges from $45,800 for the base RDX to $61,500 for the exclusive PMC Edition, which is already sold out.
