Obama Wanted Hybrid Limo
There are a lot of reasons to like Barack Obama, the most important of which that he isn’t George Bush. A close second behind that is that he seems to genuinely possess a desire to make the world around him a better place. To that end, we bring you this interesting bit of news: he doesn’t like his limo.
Apparently, while Cadillac was constructing this; their most tank-like of vehicles, the Commander in Chief ticked the option box entitled “Hybrid drivetrain” (probably located between “Ridiculous amounts of armour” and “rocket launchers”) but was denied his wish by the C.I.A. Citing the need for prodigious power, the secret service nixed the request in favour of what assuredly possesses eight cylinders and a small mountain of torque (smart money has the powerplant pinned down to some form of diesel), saying that there was no hybrid drivetrain available that would be capable of getting the uber-heavy luxo-limo up to the speeds required during emergency manoeuvres. That all sounds well and good until you consider that the Escalade Hybrid, which crushes down on the Earth’s crust with a curb weight of almost 6,000 pounds can be had with a Hybrid drivetrain that still allows for a 7,700 pound towing capacity on top of that.
So, to sooth his environmental wounds, Obama has announced the purchase of 5,000 Hybrid vehicles for federal usage in an effort to cut down on fuel consumption and emissions.
