The Chevrolet Corvette's Birthday

The first Corvette came out of the factory 61 years ago, and quickly became an automotive icon. Here is a quick recap through this american sport car's history!
The first Corvette (C1) was launched in 1953.
The Chevrolet Nomad concept, which will later become a shooting brake version of the Bel-Air.
In 1956, the Corvette gets a quad-headlights fascia.
The Mako Shark concept. The next production Corvette will use the general lines of this roadster.
The 1963 Corvette is now named Sting Ray.
The Corvette C3 was produced between 1968 and 1982.
In 1984, the fourth-gen Corvette is launched, packing a 5.7 liter V8 producing... 205 HP.
This is CERV III. It is equipped all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering and a twin-turbo V8 producing 650 HP! This crazy concept is from 1990, and its styling will inspire the C5 Corvette.
The fifth-gen Corvette is launched in 1997. People generally agrees that it is better than the last version in every single ways.
The Z06 Corvette, with enormous brakes, sport suspension and a 385 HP LS6 V8 is also available.
The Corvette also had a lot of success in racing with this C5.R.
Chevrolet brought us the sixth-gen Corvette in 2005. It was the first Corvette to feature fixed headlights since 1963.
The Z06 has been upgraded with a 505 HP V8.
This Corvette has been modified by Jay Leno to run on ethanol.
For 2009, Chevrolet decided to launch the ZR1 Corvette. It pumps out 638 HP, and can achieve 330 km/h.
This Corvette Daytona currently race in the Rolex series. It features a tube chassis and a mid-mounted 5 liter Chevrolet engine.
The C7 Corvette was launched in 2014. It has the difficult task of attracting a younger crowd, since the Corvette has a ''mid-life crisis car'' image.
A convertible is also offered.
The manufacturer announced that the Z06 would be back shortly, this time with a 625 HP supercharged engine!
