#10- Hyundai Santa Fe
The only model from a Korean manufacturer to crack the top 10 list, the Santa Fe is available in two sizes, the five-passenger Sport and longer, seven-passenger XL. Buyers of this SUV are likely attracted by its looks, its impressive amount of features and its versatility.

#9- Nissan Rogue
Here’s another compact SUV that saw its sales increase in 2016. Clearly, Canadian consumers have embraced this market segment. The Rogue scores with style, a fuel-efficient powertrain and aggressive pricing.

#8- Honda CR-V
A brand-new CR-V has just arrived in dealerships, and will have tough shoes to fill as the previous-generation model ended its production with a bang. The CR-V is a safe bet, with plenty of interior space for everyone, a refined ride, an efficient powertrain and excellent resale value. The new CR-V should do just as well.

#7- Chevrolet Silverado
Sharing the same showroom floor, the Silverado posted slightly lower sales numbers than its cousin, the GMC Sierra. However, they’re pretty similar, the Silverado offering smooth and fuel-efficient V8 engine options, attractive styling packages and a good reputation for reliability.

#6- Ford Escape
The Escape’s reign as the best-selling SUV in Canada is over, after a streak that lasted many, many years and despite a minor redesign for the 2017 model year. Still, it’s a solid choice with several powertrain choices, undeniable versatility and attractive styling.

Sales: 46,661 units

#5- Toyota RAV4
The Japanese brand’s compact RAV4 is as popular as ever, and is the new SUV sales champ in Canada. It may not be the most entertaining vehicle to drive in its category, but its reputation for reliability and strong resale value make the RAV4 a no-brainer.

#4- GMC Sierra
While the U.S. market has a marked preference for the Chevrolet Silverado, in Canada, the Sierra posts slightly better sales numbers. The Sierra may not be as flamboyant or innovative as the Ford F-Series, but it posts good fuel economy numbers and the attractive Denali editions add style to the overall package.

Sales: 51,091 units

#3- Dodge Grand Caravan
FCA’s budget-minded minivan is hanging on for 2017, but its career should soon come to an end, with no replacement in sight. A lot of families rely on the extremely versatile Grand Caravan, although heavy purchase and financing rebates admittedly help keep sales rolling along.

Sales: 51,513 units

#2- Ram Pickup
The Ram 1500 has been around with a major redesign since 2009, while the Ram HD was introduced a year later. Still, its strong sales numbers year over year is a testament to just how good the Ram Pickup is. The addition of the EcoDiesel engine and its plethora of unique trim packages keep the Ram attractive.

The F-Series is the best-selling vehicle in the country, and has been for half a century. Its reign is nowhere near to being challenged, as sales rose by about 25% in 2016. The aluminum-bodied F-150 has proved to be robust, while the new F-Series Super Duty was introduced during the year.
