Top 10 Vehicles That Scream “USA”

Published on July 4, 2018 in Top 10 by The Car Guide

As you know, July 4 is Independence Day south of the border, and The Car Guide chose to pay tribute not to Donald Trump and his administration, but rather to American automakers who faced critical times about ten years ago and are now enjoying stronger success for various reasons.

Let’s survey the market and look at the top 10 vehicles that best represent the United States.

10. Buick Regal
Regal is a name that sounds loudly in the U.S. The new generation proves to be a very good sport sedan, especially in GS trim with a 310-horsepower V6 and all-wheel drive. Handling is superb, too.

9. Tesla Model S
This electric car embodies the future of the automotive landscape in the U.S. And Tesla CEO Elon Musk might be the only person in the world right now to generate as much controversy on Twitter as Donald Trump.

8. Cadillac Escalade
Naturally, a Cadillac ranks in our top 10. When you think about the United States, SUVs immediately come to mind, so the Escalade is an obvious choice. Equipped with a 420-horsepower V8, it symbolizes big, brash and filthy rich America.

7. Lincoln Continental
Large sedans have always been closely associated with the U.S. and none boasts more historical significance than the Continental. Its resurrection for 2017 was a success and the car still represents the pinnacle of American luxury.

6. Ram 1500
A truck, of course! Redesigned for 2019, the Ram 1500 is as aggressive and badass as they come, forcing the F-150 to constantly check its rear-view mirror. It is understandably FCA’s best-selling product.

5. Dodge Challenger
Kudos to the modern Challenger for so beautifully preserving the look of the original. Last year’s 840-horsepower SRT Demon and the new 797-horsepower 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye definitely embody American power and outrageousness.

4. Chevrolet Corvette
Even at 65 years old (born in 1953), the Corvette is in better shape than ever! Everybody knows this mythical American sports car and many people dream of driving it—secretly or not. What about the 755-horsepower ZR1 model?

3. Ford Mustang
Is it the ultimate American muscle car? Depends on whose side you’re on. One thing’s for sure: the Mustang is renowned like no other and Ford keeps making it better year after year. And wait for the next Shelby GT500!

2. Jeep Wrangler
Born as Willys over 75 years ago, the Jeep brand is a central pillar of the U.S. auto industry. Is there a better representative than the Wrangler? This legendary 4x4 with unmatched off-road capabilities shines just as bright on the slick rocks of Moab as it does through muddy Mississippi trails.

1. Ford F-Series
From the F-150 to the big Super Duty models, Ford trucks unsurprisingly rank highest in our top 10. Really, do we even need to explain why?
