Looking for the most dependable and durable vehicle money can buy? A new study by automotive research firm and car search engine iSeeCars.com reveals which ones are the most likely to reach 320,000 kilometres (200,000 miles).

Unsurprisingly, Honda (Accord, Odyssey) and Toyota (Avalon, Camry, Sienna) are well represented when it comes to cars and minivans, but the top 10 longest-lasting vehicles based on the percentage of units sold is actually made up of large SUVs and pickup trucks, with American and Japanese manufacturers splitting the list evenly.

10. Toyota Tacoma (2.6%)
The Tacoma has always been associated with durability. Owners love its tough character and reliable 3.5-litre V6.

9. GMC Yukon (2.8%)
Families really appreciate the Yukon’s capabilities and spacious interior, not to mention its level of luxury, especially in the Denali version.

8. Honda Ridgeline (3.0%)
The second-generation Ridgeline is a success by all accounts, especially in terms of quality, practicality and reliability. AWD comes standard along with a 280-horsepower V6.

7. Toyota Highlander Hybrid (3.1%)
Featuring a 306-horsepower hybrid system, the Highlander Hybrid is the most fuel-efficient member of this top 10 (8.3 L/100 km combined). It comes standard with all-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission.

6. Chevrolet Tahoe (3.8%)
The Tahoe offers two powerful V8 engines and is surprisingly efficient on the highway. It can also tow up to 8,600 pounds when properly equipped.

5. Toyota 4Runner (3.9%)
The 4Runner is a capable SUV, especially off the road in TRD Pro trim. You can spend a lot of time on the trails with this thing.

4. GMC Yukon XL (4.0%)
The Yukon’s bigger twin can be counted on whenever there’s plenty of cargo to haul. With a 355- or 420-horsepower engine, it doesn’t break a sweat, either.

3. Ford Expedition (5.0%)
Demand for the new Expedition is so strong that Ford recently announced it will ramp up production. Whoever said that gas-guzzling full-size SUVs would go extinct?

2. Chevrolet Suburban (5.0%)
Clearly, bigger is better. The Suburban offers even more interior room than the Tahoe, making long road trips with the family an experience to repeat many times over.

1. Toyota Sequoia (7.4%)
It may not be the first name that comes to mind when shopping for a large SUV, but the Sequoia is as comfortable and dependable as it gets. That’s mainly the reason why it’s the vehicle most likely to reach 300,000 kilometres and more.
