Published on June 19, 2019 in Top 10 by Guillaume Rivard

Technology is now a central part of our daily lives and the automobile is a great example. Today’s cars and trucks are increasingly sophisticated and filled with systems and gadgets that allow people to stay informed and connected, starting with digital displays. They are often the focal point of the cabin and most of them offer tablet-like operation.

How important is it for you when shopping for a new vehicle? Here are the top 10 biggest infotainment displays available in Canada right now (or very soon)…

10 – Volvo S60, V60, S90, V90, XC40, XC60 and XC90 – 9-inch display
All new Volvo models come standard with this vertical display

9 (tie) – Ford Explorer – 10.1-inch display
This is the optional, vertically laid out display in the redesigned 2020 Explorer going on sale this fall

9 (tie) – Audi A6, A7, A8, Q8, Q3 and e-tron – 10.1-inch display
As if that’s not enough, a second 8.6-inch display can be found right underneath (except in the Q3)

8 (tie) – Ferrari Portofino and GTC4Lusso – 10.2-inch display

8 (tie) – Chevrolet Bolt EV – 10.2-inch display
Compared to other Chevrolet vehicles, the screen is bigger and provides info on the battery

8 (tie) – Acura RDX – 10.2-inch display
A superb improvement from the dual-screen setup in older Acuras

7 (tie) – Kia Soul – 10.25-inch display
The new, third-generation Soul is even more focused on technology than the previous ones

7 (tie) – Kia Telluride – 10.25-inch display
The all-new Telluride is Kia's biggest vehicle and naturally deserves a big centre screen

7 (tie) – Rolls-Royce Dawn, Ghost, Phantom, Wraith and Cullinan – 10.25-inch display
The infotainment system is a modified version of BMW’s iDrive

6 – Porsche Macan and 911 – 10.9-inch display
Modifications to the Macan for 2019 include a larger centre display with a higher resolution

5 (tie) – Toyota Prius, including Prius Prime – 11.6-inch display
It’s one of Toyota’s most technologically focused models and the optional display is proof of that

5 (tie) – Subaru Legacy and Outback – 11.6-inch display
The new 2020 models will be available this fall with this attractive and easier-to-use display

4 – Ram 1500 and Heavy Duty – 12.3-inch display
Another reason why it’s The Car Guide’s Best Buy for 2019 in the Full-size Pickup Category

3 (tie) – Mercedes-Benz A, E, S, G and GLE – 12.3-inch display
The new MBUX infotainment system is fantastic and soon to be included in all Mercedes-Benz products

3 (tie) – Lexus ES, GS, LS and RX – 12.3-inch display
It’s the biggest display available in Lexus vehicles, although many other models offer a 10.3-inch screen

3 (tie) – BMW X5 and X7 – 12.3-inch display
The latest version of iDrive features a personal voice assistant similar to Amazon’s Alexa

3 (tie) – Porsche Cayenne and Panamera – 12.3-inch display
The display is extremely clear, but where’s Android Auto?

3 (tie) – Bentley Continental GT – 12.3-inch display
A rotating device allows the driver to hide the screen under a wood panel that perfectly matches the dashboard

3 (tie) – Genesis G90 – 12.3-inch display
Where does this exact 12.3” trend come from? At the time of writing, neither Apple CarPlay nor Android Auto was available with the G90

2 – Tesla Model 3 – 15-inch display
It’s huge, but definitely not a success in terms of integration with the rest of the cabin

1 – Tesla Model S and Model X – 17-inch display
Still the benchmark when it comes to giant infotainment screens
