Top 10 Most Reliable 2020 Models According to Consumer Reports

Are you thinking about buying a new car in 2020? Many all-new or completely redesigned models hit the market in recent months and prove highly compelling, but you should probably wait a year or two if reliability is a top concern of yours.

That’s a key takeaway from the latest Consumer Reports Auto Reliability Survey.

"When you redesign a new vehicle, often you get better fuel economy, better safety, potentially better features," said Jake Fisher, senior director of auto testing for Consumer Reports. "But if you want reliability, your best bet is to wait a year or two until those initial growing pains have been worked out."

A prime example is the 2020 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator, which suffered from quality issues and electronic glitches right after they went on sale this summer.

On the other hand, the popular Tesla Model 3 was not recommended by the magazine last year, but it is now following key updates and revisions made by Tesla.

While Lexus, Mazda, Toyota, Porsche and Genesis rank as the five most reliable brands for 2020, Jeep, Volkswagen, Acura, Alfa Romeo and Cadillac fare the worse.
