Published on January 22, 2020 in Top 10 by Guillaume Rivard

Every year, a number of models disappear from the market due to poor sales or the fact that they no longer meet the needs of today’s consumers in the eyes of their automakers. We recently showed you 10 cars we won’t see in 2020.

Others manage to hang on despite an extremely low take rate. Want some examples? Here is a gallery of Canada’s top 10 worst-selling cars that are coming back in 2020.

Note: Fuel-cell vehicles (Toyota Mirai, Hyundai Nexo) and those with sales estimates only (McLaren) were not considered. Same thing for Bentley, which does not provide a detailed breakdown of the 108 cars it sold in 2019.

10. Genesis G90 – 82 units sold in 2019
Let’s hope the mid-cycle update to this Korean full-size luxury sedan will attract more buyers.

9. Lexus LC – 74 units sold in 2019
Despite its breathtaking looks and formidable power, this six-figure luxury coupe from Lexus remains a pretty rare sight on the road.

8. Maserati Quattroporte – 71 units sold in 2019
A large Italian sedan is the type of car you seldom come across in your lifetime.

7. Lexus LS – 69 units sold in 2019
Are the German rivals doing much better in this prestigious car segment? Aside from maybe the Audi A8 (137 units), the answer is yes.

6. Acura RLX – 55 units sold in 2019
Acura’s gas-electric premium sedan has a habit of ranking in this top 10.

5. Nissan GT-R – 53 units sold in 2019
With 565 horsepower in base trim and 600 horsepower in Track Edition, the GT-R a.k.a. “Godzilla” celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2020.

4. Fiat 500X – 50 units sold in 2019
Despite the growing popularity of small SUVs and crossovers, the 500X is not even on the radar of most customers. A new Sport trim was added for 2020.

3. Alfa Romeo 4C – 39 units sold in 2019
Alfa Romeo’s two-seat roadster returns this year with a special Italia edition limited to just 15 units in North America. Think it will sell out?

2. Acura NSX – 22 units sold in 2019
Following last year’s minor updates, Acura is adding a new heritage-inspired colour (Indy Yellow) for 2020. We want more.

1. Fiat 500L – 12 units sold in 2019
The base 500 was axed last September, but the larger and funkier 500L is staying. With such questionable styling and Fiat’s poor reliability record, are you really that surprised only 12 units were sold in 2019?
