The auto industry's shift to electrified powertrains was on full display at the 2020 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto. Here are 10 vehicles that caught our attention...

Ford Mustang Mach-E
Borrowing a number of design cues from the legendary pony car, the controversial Mustang Mach-E propels the Blue Oval brand into a new era of mobility. It offers as much as 475 kilometres of zero-emission range.

Porsche Taycan Turbo
The EPA rates the Taycan Turbo's range at 201 miles, equal to 323 kilometres. That is below the figures posted by both the Tesla Model S and Model 3. Still, we're impressed with Porsche's civilized electric rocket.

MINI Cooper SE
Following its world premiere in July, the all-new, all-electric 2020 MINI Cooper SE 3 Door has finally arrived in Canada. Offering 177 km of range, it must be viewed as a luxury toy designed essentially for city driving—or perhaps a second car for families where one parent doesn’t have long commutes to work.

Chevrolet Bolt EV
The Chevrolet Bolt EV set a benchmark for affordable electric vehicles with 383 kilometres of range on a full charge when it debuted a few of years ago. Now, for 2020, the automaker is increasing that number up to 417 kilometres, or more than any other EV except the Tesla Model S.

Jaguar I-PACE
Jaguar’s first-ever fully electric vehicle, the I-PACE blends performance and environmental friendliness with a total of 394 horsepower and a driving range of 377 kilometres on a single charge. And for the second year in a row, AJAC named it the Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.

Kia Soul EV
The third-generation Soul EV has arrived with a selection of larger, 39.2-kWh and 64-kWh batteries that provide a range of 248 and 383 kilometres, respectively. It looks super-sleek, too.

Hyundai Kona EV
The fully electric variant of the popular Hyundai Kona provides a range of up to 415 kilometres. Too bad it's not available with AWD...

Nissan LEAF PLUS
Nissan has sold more than 400,000 LEAFs around the globe. Equipped with a larger battery, the latest variant called "LEAF PLUS" delivers 214 horsepower and a range of 363 kilometres.

Volkswagen e-Golf
The Volkswagen e-Golf uses an electric motor that generates 134 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque, as well as a 35.8-kWh battery that delivers a range of 201 kilometres. Level 2 (240V) charging requires five hours. This model is about to be replaced by a next-generation EV from the ID. family.

Tesla Model 3
Last fall, Tesla boosted the range of the Model 3 Standard Range Plus to 402 kilometres. As for the Long Range and Performance variants, they continue to provide 499 kilometres of range. Of course, they also benefit from all-wheel drive whereas the regular Model 3 has rear-wheel drive only.
