10 Car Museums to Explore Virtually From Your Couch

The COVID-19 crisis that’s forcing most people to stay home is a good opportunity to discover alternative ways to entertain ourselves and explore the world.

We’ve already made a list of 10 car shows to watch while in quarantine. Now, here are 10 automobile museums you can visit virtually from the comfort of your couch. The Google Maps windows can be found underneath each picture.

National Corvette Museum – Bowling Green, Kentucky
Any self-respecting Corvette enthusiast needs to make a trip to the National Corvette Museum at least once in their lifetime. This year marks the 30th anniversary and of course the all-new 2020 Corvette is on display alongside the previous seven generations.

Petersen Automotive Museum – Los Angeles, California
Inaugurated in 1994, this museum is full of remarkable auto-related exhibitions and actually features over 300 cars. It recently showcased the insane collection of Metallica’s James Hetfield.

Porsche Museum – Stuttgart, Germany
This is unquestionably one of the most impressive and prestigious car museums on the planet. Located near Porsche’s headquarters, it shows the glorious history of the brand dating back to the early 20th century.

Mercedes-Benz Museum – Stuttgart, Germany
The city of Stuttgart is also home to the Mercedes-Benz Museum. While Google Maps doesn’t allow you to see everything, there are some great 360-degree views.

Ferrari Museum – Maranello, Italy
Let’s move to Italy, which is the country hit the hardest by the COVID-19 right now. You can take a virtual tour of the Ferrari Museum and marvel at many legendary cars from Michael Schumacher’s Formula 1 to the super-exotic LaFerrari FXX-K. 

Lamborghini Museum – Sant'Agata Bolognese, Italy
Ferrari’s arch-nemesis has lots of classics worthy of their own museum, too. If you’re not very familiar with the history of Lamborghini, this is a great opportunity to fix that.

Volvo Museum – Gothenburg, Sweden
While sitting in your new IKEA chair, take some time to discover another staple of Sweden: Volvo. This automaker is famous for its wagons, but you’ll also see some surprising cars inside its museum.

Honda Collection Hall – Motegi, Japan
Over in Japan, the Honda Collection Hall showcases everything that Honda manufactures: cars, motorcycles, powersport products, engines, lawnmowers, robots and more. With Google Maps, it’s like you were right there.

Mazda Museum – Hiroshima, Japan
Right next to Mazda’s headquarters in Hiroshima, tourists can discover the amazing collections of the Mazda Museum. Can’t go? Vintage cars, race cars, powertrains and more are just a few clicks away!

Toyota Museum – Nagakute, Japan
A final stop in Nagakute to admire the largest collection of Toyota cars in the world is a must. From the 1936 Model AA to the present-day Mirai, there is plenty to see.
