10 Cars That Probably Should Never Have Existed

History is full of automobiles that probably should never have existed. Here are 10 of them.

Aston Martin Cygnet
Yep, Aston Martin once built a microcar. In order to meet Europe’s emission standards in 2012, the British luxury manufacturer took a Scion iQ and changed the grille. The Cygnet lasted only two years due to extremely poor sales.

Fisker Karma
Designed to challenge the Tesla Model S, the Fisker Karma quickly earned the reputation of an unreliable, overly priced automobile (over $100,000 USD). What a flop!

Nissan Cube
The Nissan Cube enjoyed a lot of success when it launched in Japan, but in North America consumers weren’t so enamoured with it. This small, boxy hatchback was simply not a good fit for our market.

Fiat Multipla
Many argue that the Multipla is the ugliest car ever made. Do you agree? Seriously, look at it!

Dodge Neon
Despite getting an enthusiastic response from the public in the mid-90s, the Dodge Neon quickly became a laughingstock due to its atrocious reliability.

Chevrolet HHR
A poor imitation of the Chrysler PT Cruiser, the Chevrolet HHR never broke through. It retired after a five-year stretch and nobody shed a tear.

Edsel
The launch of the Edsel brand by Ford is still considered as one of the biggest flops in automotive history. Following a long and costly marketing campaign presenting Edsel as the automobile of the future, Ford realized that it was much too expensive and clearly not attractive enough to generate decent sales. The brand was axed after just two years.

Ford Mustang II
The original Ford Mustang was a huge hit, but the second generation failed miserably. In response to the oil crisis of 1973, Ford chose to build this Mustang from the Pinto, a small economy car.

AMC Gremlin
It looks like a full-size sedan cut in half. Enough said.

Cadillac Cimarron
This awful car largely tarnished Cadillac’s reputation in the 1980s, sending the brand to rock-bottom. The Cimarron was nothing more than a Chevrolet Cavalier with some leather and a new grille, yet it cost twice as much.
