15 Cars That Should Make a Comeback

A number of memorable cars were abandoned in Canada following a failed redesign, a change of strategy by their manufacturer or a change of heart by consumers.

We at The Car Guide are pretty nostalgic fellows. Here are 15 cars we’d love to see again at dealerships.

Acura Integra
Acura no longer offers a coupe like the Integra. Used Integra Type R models currently sell for mind-boggling prices, so why not bring the car back?

Buick Grand National
General Motors has a tough time rejuvenating the Buick brand. With a new Grand National featuring a 640-horsepower V8 from the outgoing Cadillac CTS-V, nobody would dare calling it an old man’s car.

Dodge Magnum
This mean wagon was available with a V6 or a V8, RWD or AWD. Imagine a brand new Dodge Magnum with a Hellcat engine?

Mazda RX-7
It’s probably impossible to bring back a rotary engine like the one in the iconic RX-7. However, we’d love to see a sporty coupe with stronger performance than the MX-5 in Mazda’s driver-focused lineup.

Subaru Baja
Given the success of today’s midsize pickups, maybe Subaru should bring back the Baja. With larger dimensions and the same architecture as the Ascent, that’d be sweet.

Volvo C30
Penned by Canadian designer Simon Lamarre, the Volvo C30 has no substitute in the current lineup. That’s too bad because this Swedish compact was really fun and different from the competition.

Renault 5
A generation of drivers fell in love with this small French car. We’d love to see it make a comeback in North America, though it’s next to impossible.

Dodge Ramcharger
As a direct response to the upcoming Ford Bronco, FCA should bring back the Ramcharger using the Jeep Wrangler as a foundation.

Ford F-150 SVT Lightning
The current Ford F-150 is a capable truck, for sure, but many fans would be delighted with the return of a sporty model like the SVT Lightning. Count us among them.

Honda S2000
Highly coveted by enthusiasts and tuners, the S2000 roadster left a tiny but important hole in Honda’s lineup. We dearly miss its sharp handling and high-revving engine.

Suzuki SX4
Since Suzuki left the Canadian market, no other car has replaced the SX4, a practical hatchback with a tall body and available AWD.

Toyota MR2
The MR2 was a mid-engine sports car loved by many enthusiasts. A new generation would fit nicely alongside the Toyota 86 and GR Supra.

Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
While the Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro came back after several years off the market, the Firebird Trans Am never really had the chance since GM killed the Pontiac brand.

Dodge Viper
The Viper was an outlandish embodiment of modern American muscle and a formidable opponent for the Corvette. There were rumours of a comeback with some form of electrification, but we’re not counting on it.

Mazdaspeed3
The all-new Mazda3 is one of the best cars in its class—and a finalist for the 2020 World Car of the Year award. It certainly has what it takes to handle an extra dose of power. How about a turbocharged 2.5-litre engine producing 300 horsepower? That would totally be worthy of the Mazdaspeed moniker and a serious threat to the Volkswagen Golf R.
