10 Vehicles With a Long List of Recalls

There are many ways to evaluate the quality and reliability of vehicles. Manufacturer recalls are certainly one of them.

Don’t want to spend too much time getting your car fixed at the dealership? We searched Transport Canada’s recall database and compiled a list of 10 current or recent models you should be wary of.

Note: We tried to limit to one vehicle per make in order to paint a larger picture. Also, remember that older vehicles are more likely to be the target of several recalls than those that have been recently redesigned.

Ram 1500 (2019-present)
Number of recalls: 14
Latest recall: The nuts that attach the windshield wiper arms may not have been tightened properly.

Nissan Altima (2013-2018)
Number of recalls: 15
Latest recall: Over time, corrosion could cause the secondary hood latch to stick in the open position after it is used.

Volkswagen Golf (2015-present, including e-Golf)
Number of recalls: 16
Latest recall: A build-up of silicate on the shift lever switch could cause the transmission to detect that it is in the Park position when it isn't.

Latest recall: The low-pressure fuel pump could fail, potentially causing the engine to run rough.

Latest recall: The bolts that attach the electric power steering assist motor to the steering gear may corrode and break.

Latest recall: Road salt can corrode the front cross-member (subframe). As a result, a lower control arm could eventually detach from the cross-member.
